World premiere Human Nature at TIFF

22 August 2019

The Dutch production Human Nature* will celebrate its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The animated short, directed by Sverre Fredriksen and written by Britt Snel (animation by Zaou Vaughan, Sverre Fredriksen, Marike Verbiest), has been selected for the festival's Short Cuts competition and is eligible for the IWC Short Cuts Award for Best Film.

Human Nature, produced by Family Affair Films, is a stop-motion animation film about the love people have for animals, and the harm we consciously or unconsciously bring to them. In Human Nature we enter a world where things are different than how we know it. We see naked ladies laying in the field, an old man taking a nap on a radiator while a fat man is stranded on the beach and starts vomiting plastic. In this world humans and animals have swapped places.

Earlier TIFF announced the selection of Instinct*, Halina Reijn's debut feature, which recently won the Variety Piazza Grande Award at the Locarno International Film Festival, State Funeral by Sergei Loznitsa and the Dutch minority co-productions The Barefoot Emperor* and The Goldfinch.

The 44th Toronto International Film Festival takes place 5 - 15 September.
