Wolf selected for San Sebastian
July 25, 2013
Wolf by director Jim Taihuttu is selected for the upcoming edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film will have its international premiere at the New Directors section of the festival in the presence of the filmmaker, just after its release in Dutch cinemas (September 19). All films in the New Directors section compete for the Kutxa-New Directors Award, carrying €50,000 for the director and distributor of the film in Spain.
Wolf is the second feature of director and scriptwriter Jim Taihuttu. The film is the follow up of his acclaimed and awardwinning debut Rabat, and it is produced again by Habbekrats.
Wolf is about Majid, a talented kickboxer from a grey, anonymous suburb in the Netherlands. As his fighting prowess brings him increasing notoriety in-and outside the ring, the worlds of kickboxing and organised crime begin to blur into ach another and Majid begins to lose sight of what it is he really wants.
Taihattu uses a raw black and white look to tell a story set in the Netherlands but that transcends national boundaries in style and subject.
The 61st edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival takes place September 20 - 28.
