Transilvania showcases Dutch films
The Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania is showcasing several feature films and documentaries from the Netherlands. The festival will take place from May 28 until June 6 in Cluj and from June 9 – 13 in Sibiu, Romania.
NOTHING PERSONAL by Urszula Antoniak (producer Rinkel Film Productions) and LAST CONVERSATION by Noud Heerkens (producer Holland Harbour Productions) are selected for the Competition Programme of the festival.
NOTHING PERSONAL, Urszula Antoniak’s succesfull debut film, won many international awards, including the FIPRESCI Prize and a Leopard for Best First Feature at the Locarno Film Festival 2009. The film tells the story of a young travelling woman and a older educated, solitary man who close a deal: food in exchange of work
In LAST CONVERSATION, award winning actress Johanna ter Steege plays (in one spectacular long take, shot with 25 cameras), the tragic figure of the proud, but jilted lover. The film premiered during the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009 and was selected a.o. for the Critics Choice programme in Karlovy Vary. Johanna ter Steege and Noud Heerkens will be present at the Transilvania International Film Festival.
The programme ‘Extreme Therapies’ will showcase the Dutch feature films TEMPLE OF TRUST by Hans Breetveld (producer Eyeworks Film & TV Drama) and THE AVIATRIX OF KAZBEK by Ineke Smits (producer Isabella Films) and the documentary FEAR by Michiel van Erp (producer De Familie).
In FEAR Michiel van Erp leaps into the world of anxiety disorders. TEMPLE OF TRUST shows a reporter starting a radical treatment in a spiritual centre near the sea.
Ineke Smits, director of THE AVIATRIX OF KAZBEK, a modern, universal tale of three young people who meet amid the atrocities of war, will be part of the Competition Jury of the Transilvania International Film Festival.
