Tess nominee EFA Young Audience Award

Dutch family film My Extraordinary Summer with Tess by director Steven Wouterlood and produced by BIND Film is nominated for the EFA Young Audience Award 2020.
The two other nominees are My Brother Chases Dinosaurs by Stefano Cipani (Italy) and Rocca Changes the World by Katja Benrath (Germany).

On Sunday 26 April the three nominated films will be screened for the jury: an audience of 12-14 year olds in 69 European cities in 40 countries. Immediately after the screening, the jury members vote for the winner, which is streamed live via yaa.europeanfilmawards.eu. Afterwards the three nominated films are made available for the general audience everywhere in Europe on VoD.

My Extraordinary Summer with Tess world premiered in Berlinale's Generation Kplus competition, where it received a Special Mention, after which it has screened at numerous festivals worldwide, winning among others the Grand Prize at the New York International Children's Film Festival, the Children's Jury Best Film Award at Kristiansand and the Golden Slipper for Best Feature at Zlin.

My Extraordinary Summer with Tess tells the story of Sam, who is practising being alone in order to avoid the pain of loss, but after an adventure with Tess he discovers the value of family.

Previous winners of the EFA Young Audience Award include the Dutch films Fight Girl (2019), Regret (2014), The Zigzag Kid (2013) and Kauwboy (2012).
