Sub. Sam reaches Platinum
October 29, 2012
Family film Sub. Sam has reached the status of Platinum Film. Over 400.000 tickets have
already been sold since the film's release in Dutch cinemas on October 3. Sub. Sam is the first Dutch feature this year to be awarded the Platinum Film.
Sub. Sam is director Barbara Bredero’s debut movie. The script is by Tijs van Marle and PV Pictures produced the film.
Based on the highly popular series of children books Sub. Sam chronicles the funny misadventures of a young intern teacher at an elementary school. Tobias doesn’t really mind when his teacher, Miss Sanne, goes on maternity leave. She’d often kick him out of class or send him to detention, with extra homework and everything. But then, you can never tell with substitute teachers. They could be just as bad. Or worse!
The Golden/Platinum/Diamond Film Award is awarded when the number of tickets sold after a film’s release reach 100.000, 400.000, and 1.000.000 respectively. The prize is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001 and is intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films.
