International interest for ZOMBIBI
February 24, 2012
An American production and distribution company is interested in acquiring the rights of ZOMBIBI, the first zombie film from the Netherlands. There has also been interest from Australia, France and Germany. It is unclear yet if ZOMBIBI will get a remake or if the movie will be dubbed. Negotiations are taking place at the moment.
In ZOMBIBI two brothers, who are each other’s opposites, wake up together in jail and find out the city is overtaken by hundreds of zombies. But instead of trying to reach the safety zone, they decide to save a girl who is stuck in a building and they have to fight their way through the undead hordes.
ZOMBIBI is directed by Erwin van den Eshof and Martijn Smits, written by Tijs van Marle and produced by Talent United in co-production with RTL Entertainment and A-Film Distribution. The zomedy premiered February 13 and is now screening in national cinemas.
