Strong Dutch presence in Copenhagen

No less than sixteen films from the Netherlands have been selected for BUSTER - International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Copenhagen.
Selected for the Competition, in the documentary section, is the short doc I AM A GIRL by Susan Koenen. Earlier this year the film won the award for Best Documentary at both the LA FilmFest (Los Angeles) and the World Wide Short Film Festival in Toronto.
Two Dutch feature films are competing for the Audience Award (alongside 8 other films): THE STRONGEST MAN IN HOLLAND by Mark de Cloe and THE MAGICIANS by Joram Lürsen, which has won several prizes already, among others at the children's film festivals of Kristiansand (Norway) and Montreal.
Fiction feature films that have been included in the non competitive programme at BUSTER are CHUBBY DRUMS by Arne Toonen and the Belgian/Dutch co-production OXYGEN by Hans van Nuffel.
Short documentaries that are screened out of competition are: the award winning FLYING ANNE by director Catherine van Campen, I’M NEVER AFRAID! by Willem Baptist, CLOTHES ON, CLOTHES OFF by Debbie Kleijn, STARRING DAVID by Esther Gould and the Zambian/Dutch co-production CHILDREN OF CHIBALE by Eva Rossen.
Finally a number of Dutch animated shorts will be presented: DIRKJAN RULES! by Wilfred Ottenheijm and Remco Polman, EYES OF THE LIGHTHOUSE by Pedro Serrazino, OLAF – HAPPY LITTLE CANON by Bastiaan Hooimeijer, ON THE WATER by Yi Zhao, and from director Joost Liewma AN EXCITING DAY FOR ANNA and THINGS YOU’D BETTER NOT MIX UP.
