STAY! enjoys international interest
Dutch youth film
STAY!, directed by Lourens Blok and written by Mirjam Oomkes and
Willemine van der Wiel, receives broad international interest. The movie
has been selected for various important film festivals around the
world.
This week STAY! is part of the Children Film Competition at BUFF
- the International Children and Young People’s Film Festival in Malmö,
Sweden (March 13 – 17) and the upcoming months the movie will be
screened at the TIFF Kids International Film Festival (Toronto, April 10 – 22) and Giffoni Film Festival in Italy (July 12 – 21). Other festivals include the European Youth Film Festival in Belgium and Movies that Matter in the Netherlands.
STAY! is an engaging youth film about immigration. It tells the story of an 11 year-old boy who has to go back to Iran when the family’s residency permit is turned down. His best friend Lieke does anything in her power to help her best friend stay.
