Silent Land

Small local farmers are essential for food provision but are chased off their land by large multinationals that only produce for export, destroying the soil in the process.

Almost three quarters of available agricultural land in Cambodia has been sold to companies that produce for export only. As this is disastrous for local food production, the World Food Program supports vulnerable parts of the population with food supplies. In the meantime, the exile of the farmers continues. Since 2003, more than 400.000 Cambodians have been chased away because of this corporate land grabbing.
