Shooting starts for In YOUR NAME

December 5, 2012

The principal photography has started on In Your Name, Marco van Geffen’s second feature film. Earlier this year the film was selected for the prestigious Cannes L’Atelier 2012, where it won the International Relations ARTE Prize for best script.
The film stars international renowned Dutch actors Barry Atsma (Stricken, Taped) and Lotte Verbeek (Nothing Personal, the Borgias) who play a Dutch couple living in a newly build Dutch town. They worked hard to create a happy life and when they are expecting their firstborn, it feels like their happiness is complete. But this newfound happiness makes them also extremely vulnerable.
The film is part two of what Marco van Geffen calls the Vinex Trilogy about the drama of the happy family. Part one, Among Us, had its world première at the International Film Festival of Locarno 2011, and won two prizes. Thereafter the film has been shown at acknowledged film festivals worldwide, amongst which TIFF 2011 and the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
Marco van Geffen is scriptwriter and director. He directed several short films, of which his short film Sister received a Golden Palm Nomination at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. With his first feature Among Us, about a Polish au pair in a Dutch suburban city, Marco van Geffen ended up in Screen’s ‘2011’s hits and rising stars’.
The script for In your Name was written by Jolein Laarman, who also wrote the script for Among Us. Laarman also wrote the scenario’s for a.o. Kauwboy (winner of a.o. European Discovery 2012, Prix FIPRESCI at European Film Awards, Best First Feature Award & Best Youth Film – Berlinale), Stages and Katia’s Sister.
In your Name is produced by Lemming Film in co-production with Kino Elektron (France) and A Private View (Belgium) and is supported by the Dutch Film Fund and Cinema du Monde. International sales are handled by French sales agent Elle Driver. In Your Name is expected in national cinemas in autumn 2013.
