Nothing Personal wins Silver Giraldillo

Nothing Personal by Urszula Antoniak was awarded the Silver Giraldillo at the Seville Film Festival in Spain. The prize, an amount of € 25.000, is meant to stimulate the distribution of Nothing Personal in Spain. Nothing Personal also received the ASECAN Award, the prize of the Andalusia Film Critics. The Golden Giraldillo went to Jessica Hausner for the film Lourdes. The festival took place from November 6-14, 2009.

According to jury chairman Nicolas Roeg “the understanding of the characters and their mysterious development, the pain of their loss and their recovering were beautifully portrayed in Nothing Personal”.

Earlier this year, Nothing Personal was honored with as many as six awards at the 62nd Locarno Film Festival, including the Leopard for Best First Feature, the First Prize of the Youth Jury, the FIPRESCI Prize, the CICAE Price of the International Art & Essay Cinema Confederation and a special mention of the Ecumenical Jury. Actress Lotte Verbeek was awarded the Leopard for Best Actress.

Nothing Personal also won four Golden Calves at the Netherlands Film Festival Utrecht (Best Long Feature, Best Director, Best Camera and Best Sound Design).

Nothing Personal is Urszula Antoniak's feature film debut, featuring the internationally acknowledged actor and Neil Jordan regular, Stephen Rea (The Crying Game) and a stunning performance by Lotte Verbeek. The film is an English-spoken Dutch-Irish co-production produced by Amsterdam-based Rinkel Film & TV, Family Affair Films and Fastnet Films in cooperation with VPRO, and was shot in Ireland, Holland and Spain. Sales is handled by Bavaria Film International.

Nothing Personal tells the story of a young travelling woman and a older educated, solitary man who close a deal: food in exchange of work. But there is one condition: no personal contact, no questions. Who will be the first one to break the deal?
