Line-up Dutch Docs at IDFA 2019

Dutch creative documentaries are strongly represented at the 32nd Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival (20 Nov – 1 Dec), with more than forty Dutch productions and co-productions in various sections.

Twenty-five films from the Netherlands have been selected for various IDFA competitions and all of these films will have their world premiere at the festival.

Punks directed by Maasja Ooms and produced by Cerutti Film is selected for the IDFA Feature-Length Competition. Selected for IDFA Mid-Length Competition is Carrousel, directed by Marina Meijer and produced by Basalt Film.

Films by renowned Dutch auteurs are screening in IDFA Masters: My Rembrandt*) by Oeke Hoogendijk and Once the Dust Settles*) by John Appel.

IDFA presents a strong Dutch competition including new films from well-known filmmakers like Ramón Gieling (The Death of Antonio Sánchez Lomas*), Reber Dosky (Sidik and the Leopard*), Petr Lom (Angels on Diamond Street) and Ilse & Femke van Velzen (Prison for Profit*). Additionally, films by promising new Dutch talents like Sophie Dros (King of the Cruise*) and Loretta van der Horst (Behind the Blood) will be screened in this section.

They Call Me Babu*) by Sandra Beerends is selected for both Dutch Competition and the IDFA Competition for Creative Use of Archive, a new competition that pays tribute to one of the pillars of documentary filmmaking: the archive.
