KAUWBOY wins EFA Young Audience Award

KAUWBOY has won the first European Film Academy's Young Audience Award. On Sunday June 10 the Young European Audience Film Day took place in 6 European cities: Amsterdam, Belgrade, Copenhagen, Erfurt, Norrkoping and Turin. In these cities the three nominated films, KAUWBOY by Boudewijn Koole (the Netherlands) , BLUE BIRD by Gust van den Berghe (Belgium) and SISTER by Ursula Meier (France/Switzerland) were simultaneously screened to a 10 to 13-year-old audience. Afterwards the young cinephiles voted for their favourite film. In Erfurt (Germany) the co-writer of the film, Jolein Laarman, received EFA Young Audience Award for KAUWBOY during the official ceremony.
Director Boudewijn Koole wrote the script for KAUWBOY together with Jolein Laarman. The film is produced by Waterland Film.
The film is about the 10-year-old boy Jojo, who is caught between his love for a jackdaw and his loyalty to his father. Finally he decides that enough is enough.
KAUWBOY had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival where it won two important prizes for Best Youth Film and Best First Feature, and has since been screened and awarded at various other international film festivals.
