Kala Azar wins award at Black Canvas

Dutch feature Kalaz Azar by director Janis Rafa, produced by SNG Film, has won the New Horizon Competition-Best Cinematography Award at the 4th Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival in Mexico.
Kala Azar world premiered in Rotterdam International Film Festival's Tiger Competition, where it received the Dutch Film Critics' Award and has since been selected for numerous other prestigious festivals worldwide, including New Zealand, Sydney, Vancouver and Hong Kong. At the latter the jury gave the film a Special Mention.
Two minority Dutch co-productions have also won prizes at Black Canvas. Window Boy Would Also Like a Submarine by Alex Piperno, co-produced by Amsterdam based BALDR Film, received the New Horizon Best Film Award and Ana Vaz' s Apiyemiyeki?, co-produced by De Productie, has been awarded Best Director in Beyond the Canvas Competition.
Besides the above mentioned Dutch co-productions, also Pari by Siamak Etemadi, minority co-produced by Topkapi Films screened at Black Canvas in the Nowadays section.
