Inventory of the Motherland
A film inspired by the work of photographer Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944), the inventor of colour photography in Russia.
Following in the footsteps of photographer Prokudin-Gorskii this film follows two routes, by boat and train, into both Russia's heart and its North, providing a colourful ode in image, sound and music to a Motherland on the verge of revolution, as well as to the Russia of today.
