Dutch Youth Cinema at Schlingel

A great many Dutch kids and youth films are selected for the upcoming edition of the Schlingel Film Festival for Children and Young Audience in Chemnitz, Germany.
No less than five feature films are included in the Festival programme:
The Promise of Pisa*) by Norbert ter Hall (produced by All Yours Film) is screening in the Youth Film section.
The Junior programme includes Jonathan Elbers’ award winning The Club of Ugly Children *) (produced by Umami Media) and Jackie and Oopjen by Annemarie van den Mond’s (prod: Column Film and Fiction Valley). The latter is also presented at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California this week. The Club of Ugly Children had its international premiere at the New York International Children’s Film Festival where it won the Grand Prize for Best Feature Film and most recently it received the Children’s Jury Prize at the Zurich Film Festival.
Pirates Down the Street*) directed by Pim van Hoeve (prod: Johan Nijenhuis & Co) celebrates its international premiere in Schlingel’s Children’s Film section. Alos part of Children’s Film is Monkey Business*) by Johan Nijenhuis (2015, prod: Farmhouse Film). The film has been selected for numerous kids festivals worldwide, from Giffoni to Kolkata.
Furtherore four short
films from the Netherlands are presented at the Festival in Chemnitz: Cuckoo! by Jörgen Scholten’s (prod:
Team Tonger), Offbeat by Myrthe
Ouwekerk (Netherlands Film Academy) and the animated shorts Bingo*) by Patrick Schoenmaker
(prod: Frame Order) and Jamille van Wijngaarden’s Catastrophe*) (prod: KeplerFilm).
