Golden Films for two Dutch movies

December 31, 2012

The Blitz and family film Mike Says Goodbye! have both reached the status of Golden Film. More than 100.000 tickets have been sold since the films' release in Dutch cinemas.

The Blitz, screening in national cinemas since December  20, is directed by Ate de Jong. The script is by De Jong and Paul Ruven. Fu Works produced the film together with Talent United in co-production with In-Soo Productions (NL) and U-Media (BE).

The Blitz tells the thrilling love story between a young boxer and a German girl, set against a Second World War backdrop.

Mike Says Goodbye!, released December 12, is directed by Maria Peters and written by Mirjam Oomkes and Willemine van der Wiel. The film is produced by Shooting Star Filmcompnay in co-production with Launch Works.

Mike Says Goodbye! is about Mike, a boy who is hospitalized for many months and wants to go home. But when he is released, his mother never shows up to take him home. The day before Christmas Mike is sent off to a children's institution. How will he manage to celebrate Christmas at home together with his mum?

Mountainroad Entertainment Group handles the international sales of both movies.

The Golden/Platinum/Diamond Film Award is awarded when the number of tickets sold after a film’s release reach 100.000, 400.000, and 1.000.000 respectively. The prize is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001 and is intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films.
