Gold in Cairo

Rogier Hesp's debut feature Gold*) is selected for the Critics Week Competition at the Cairo International Film Festival, which kicks off today.
Gold, produced by BALDR Film, world premiered at Rotterdam this year and will have its MENA premiere at Cairo. The film tells the story of promising young gymnast Timo and his disabled father Ward share a big dream, to win Olympic gold. But when Timo meets physiotherapist Irene, these new and intense feelings conflict with Timo's dedication to his father and the Olympic 'mission'.
Selected for Cairo's Special Screenings is Dutch minority co-production La Fortaleza*) by Venezuelan director Jorge Thielen Armand and co-produced by Netherlands-based Viking Film. La Fortaleza (international sales: Reel Suspects) world premiered in Rotterdam's Tiger Competition and has been selected for numerous other film festivals among which Busan, Cartagena, Guadalajara, Rome Independent Film Festival and won a Special Mention at the Biarritz International Film Festival.
The 42nd Cairo International Film Festival takes place from 2 - 10 December.
