Go Short Int FF awards two Dutch shorts
18 March 2013
Last Saturday, two Dutch short films were awarded at the Awards Ceremony of the Go Short – International Short Film Festival Nijmegen.
To Become, Shift, Transfer, Copy and Erase JANET LEIGH, directed by Jeroen Offerman, was awarded with the VEVAM Go Short Award for Best Dutch Short Film.
Statement of the jury: The jury likes to encourage filmmakers to take risks and experiment in the language of the moving image, especially with regard to the short film where there is so much freedom. This film examines and deconstructs the grammar of one of cinema's most iconic scenes, challenging the viewer's expectations by reinterpreting its craft from different perspectives.
In the Student Competition “Breaking Shorts”, Magnesium, directed by Sam de Jong from the NFTA (Netherlands Film and Television Academy), received a Special Mention.
The Jury Statement: The jury was taken by the plight of the central character, brutal camera, sound and edit. We felt every beat of the character's heart, the film captivated us from the very beginning until the very end.
The fifth edition of the Go Short festival took place from 13 – 17 March 2013 in The Netherlands.
