Fight Girl Wins Two Awards At BUFF

3 April 2019

The Dutch feature film Fight Girl, directed by Johan Timmers and produced by The Film Kitchen, has won two awards at BUFF International Children and Young People’s Film Festival, taking place in Malmö (Sweden).

Fight Girl won the City of Malmö Children’s Film Award for best children’s film and the ECFA Award. The ECFA Award has been created by the European Children’s Film Association and is awarded at a number of international festivals for films aimed at children and young people.

By winning the ECFA Award, Fight Girl will go on to compete for the prize for the year’s best film for children and young people awarded at the Berlinale.

In Fight Girl, protagonist Bo (12) moves to an Amsterdam suburb when her parents separate. Once there, her neighbour Joy introduces her to the kickboxing club, where Bo demonstrates a natural talent.
