Dutch youth films conquer Toronto

No less than ten films from the Netherlands have been selected for the upcoming edition of the TIFF Kids International Film Festival in Toronto. TIFF Kids is one of the largest and most renowned children's film festivals in the world and the 18th edition kicks off today, April 7.

The main programme of the festival includes three Dutch feature films: The Amazing Wiplala by director Tim Oliehoek, in which the famous book Wiplala written by Annie M.G. Schmidt is brought to the big screen, festival favourite T.I.M by Rolf van Eijk and Barbara Bredero's Mr. Twister on Stage, the third installment of the popular Mister Twister franchise.

TIFF Kids also presents a large number of Dutch short films, among which the live action films Freeze by Maria Peters, Go Daan Go! by Mari Sanders and the animated shorts Jack by Quentin Haberham and Munya in Me by Mascha Halberstad. Furthermore the festival screens several short documentaries made in the Netherlands: New by Eefje Blankevoort and Els van Driel's The Lion and the Brave Mouse and Gabriel Reports on the World Cup.

The 18th TIFF Kids International Film Festival takes place April 7 -19.
