Dutch Times Two In Stuttgart
16 May, 2019
Two Dutch (co-) productions have won awards at the 26th Stuttgart Trickfilm International Animated Film Festival (ITFS). The festival took place 30 April - 5 May.
Bloeistraat 11, directed by Nienke Deutz, won the Grand Prix. The film is produced by Lunanime (BE&NL), and co-produced by Need Productions (BE), Beast Animation (BE) and Windmill Film (NL). In Bloeistraat 11, inseparable best friends spend their last summer holiday of childhood amusing themselves around the house. As summer progresses their bodies start to morph and shift, and an awkwardness descends on their friendship.
The film also won the ECFA Short Film Award at the 65th International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen, which took place 1-6 May.
The SWR Audience Award was given to Floor Adams' Mind My Mind, produced by CinéTé Filmproduktie. The animated film tells us the story of Chris, a teenage boy who is passionate about German dive bombers. Outside the safety of his room, he struggles to adapt to social life and the cues that come with it.
Earlier this year Mind My Mind received several awards, including Best Short Film at the Anima Brussels Animation Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the Go-Short International Short Film Festival Nijmegen. The film was also selected for the Animated Shorts program of Tribeca in New York, which was curated by Whoopi Goldberg.
