Short documentary That Which Is to Come Is Just a Promise by maker collective Flatform, was awarded Best Documentary in the European Competition. The film is coproduced by Dutch producer seriousfilm. In this documentary a single long take shot runs throughout Funafuti, the main island of the Tuvalu archipelago, alternating repeatedly and in apparent continuity, places, people and situations emerging and immersing in the water.
From the Jury: "The filmmakers cleverly and painstakingly capture the inhabitants, who act as performers, juxtaposed and carefully framed within their ever-changing environment being reclaimed by the sea."
With her film debut So I Stay, Dutch director Marieke de Zwaan has won the award for Best Film in the Dutch Competition. According to the jury, she won thanks to the meditative aspect of strolling around and the amazing acting of the main character.
Short film Short Trip by Cassandra Offenberg and produced by Witfilm, received a special mention from the jury of the Dutch Competition. The film had a world premiere during Go Short. In Short Trip a group of young friends feel immortal, despite losing one of their own, and go on a journey to experience everything life has to offer.
