Dutch Films Off to Leipzig
Three Dutch (co-)productions have been selected for Dok Leipzig.
The Dutch/Belgian co-production Little Man, Time and the Troubadour, directed by Ineke Smits (prod: The Film Kitchen), will celebrate its world premiere as part of the International Programme. In this documentary the alternative creation myth of the small Caucasian Republic of Abhkazia sheds new light on a highly topical question: what is a country?
Dutch minority co-production Crowded, directed and produced by Nathania Rubin, will have its European premiere in the International Competition Short Film. Crowded is an animated short where pencil and eraser create the changing face of a woman. The film of her life unfolds in her bedroom as changes become visible with every new drawing.
Mama Mania, directed and produced by Vincent Sparreboom, will have its international premiere in the International Programme Short Film. Sparreboom made the short documentary while he was a first-year student at the HKU and the film was previously selected for GoShort Nijmegen. Mama Mania is about Sparreboom's relationship with his mother, who is manic-depressive, and his worries when his mother becomes a victim of a dating scam.
The 62nd International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film - Dok Leipzig - will take place from the 28th of October until the 3rd of November.
