Dutch films at Beijing International Film Festival

April 17, 2012

Two films from the Netherlands have been selected for the Second Beijing International Film Festival, which will be held April 23 – 28. The major film programme of the Beijing International Film Festival, Beijing Film Panorama, consists of  various sections and boasts a large amount of films in different topics and types, offering a platform for both Chinese and foreign films.

BLACK BUTTERFLIES, directed by Paula van der Oest and written by Greg Latter (production: Topkapi Films), will be screened in the Diversified Perspective-section that includes screenings of recently released films from various countries. The award-winning film tells the love – and life – story of the South African poet Ingrid Jonker. BLACK BUTTERFLIES has already been sold to over 50 countries.

WINTER OF LOVE, by director Gülsah Dogan (production: seriousFilm), is included in the section of Documentaries and Short Films. In her documentary Dogan depicts the love story of her uncle Cemal and aunt Emine who after their arranged marriage in a small Turkish village end up in the Dutch city of Enschede.
