Dutch features at Monaco Charity Film Festival
The Monaco Charity Film Festival is a yearly Charity Event held in Monaco for the benefit of the poor children around the world. Two Dutch feature productions are selected by the festival. THE SILENT ARMY by Jean van de Velde competes in the World Cinema Competition. SING FOR DAFUR by Johan Kramer takes part in the section Discovery First Feature (out of competition).
In SING FOR DARFUR forty different mini-stories come together on the day a worldwide popconcert for Darfur is being held in Barcelona. We discover that the tragedy in Sudan has a different meaning for everyone, but brings some magic as well for those who care.
In THE SILENT ARMY Child soldiers in Africa are at the fore in this tale of a white restaurant owner in an African town bordering a conflict zone. When his son’s African friend Abu is abducted, he sets out to find the boy, and walks right into a training camp exploiting children like Abu.
