CODE BLUE selected for Quinzaine

CODE BLUE, the new film by Urszula Antoniak is selected for the Cannes Film Festival. The film will be screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section.

CODE BLUE tells the story of Marian, a serial killer nurse, who shares nothing with humans beside the intimacy of death. When she is bound to share a secret with a stranger, her solitary life and murderous routine are disrupted.

CODE BLUE is Antoniak’s second feature film. Her first film NOTHING PERSONAL won important prizes at the Locarno Film Festival and the Seville European Film Festival and she was awarded 4 Golden Calves at the Netherlands Film Festival 2009.

CODE BLUE is produced by IDTV Film (NL) and Family Affair Films (NL), in co-production with VPRO (NL) and Zentropa (DK). Distributor Wild Bunch will release the film in Dutch cinemas on 8 September 2011. At the moment Antoniak is working on her third film NUDE AREA.

The Dutch minority co-production THE OTHER SIDE OF SLEEP, directed by Rebecca Daly, is also selected for the Directors’ Fortnight.  In THE OTHER SIDE OF SLEEP Arlene, a factory worker, one morning wakes up in the middle of the forest, next to the body of a murdered woman. The film is produced by Rinkel Film (NL), Fastnet Films (IE) and MKH Films (HU). Rinkel Film and Fastnet Films previously worked together on the award winning film NOTHING PERSONAL.

The Dutch Short film SUGAR by Jeroen Annokee (produced by LEV Pictures) is selected for the NFB Online Competition during the Cannes Film Festival (11 – 22 May).
