BETWEEN 10 AND 12 starts shooting

September 16, 2013

Peter Hoogendoorn's debut feature, Between 10 and 12, a real time ensemble drama produced by the Netherlands based Keren Cogan Films and Phanta Film and co-producers Limited (FR), Mindsmeet (BE) and Dutch broadcaster AVRO commenced shooting September 9. The film will be released in Dutch cinemas by Amstelfilm in 2014.

Writer/director Peter Hoogendoorn developed the script at the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam. The project was presented at the CineMart at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2010. The film is supported by Eurimages, the Dutch Film Fund, Screen Flanders, Region Alsace and CoBO and will be distributed by Amstelfilm. The ensemble cast is made up of well known Dutch actors Raymond Thiry, Nasrdin Dchar, Cynthia Abma, Olga Louzgina and up-and-coming young talents Elise van 't Laar en Ko Zandvliet.

Between 10 and 12 is about a journey of faith in a city that never stops.
Just another summer’s day. But on this particular day a devastating piece of news, delivered by two officers in a police car, changes the lives of a family forever. As the journey progresses, the vehicle becomes more and more crowded with family members, picked up from home, work, the hairdressers. As they sit in the backseat, alone with their thoughts, what they thought they knew about life, about relationships, has been violently altered. And while the focus for their despair is all too clear, around them everyday things begin to lose meaning as the world becomes increasingly absurd.
Peter Hoogendoorn says about the film:
'There is a tension in life between the horrible tragedies we encounter and the nitty gritty of everyday worries we face. That fascinates me. My goal is to shape this tension in my films that I make, because everything human is found somewhere between the extremes of a cheese sandwich and death.'
