Between 10 and 12 off to Venice
July 23, 2014
Between 10 and 12, written and directed by Peter Hoogendoorn, will have its world premiere at the upcoming Venice Days, the independently run side event of the Venice International Film Festival. The film is produced by Amsterdam-based Keren Cogan Films and Phanta Film, in co-production with broadcaster AVRO-TROS (NL), Unlimited (FR), Minds Meet (BE) and Mollywood (BE).
Together with eleven other titles from all over the world Between 10 and 12 will compete for the two prizes that Venice Days introduces this year. A jury consisting of 28 young film lovers from all 28 EU member countries, will hand out the Venice Days cash award of Euros 20,000 to be split between the producer and the director.
The other award will be decided by the festival audience who also vote for their favourite film.
Between 10 and 12 is Peter Hoogendoorn's debut feature film and shows how on a beautiful summer day the news delivered by two police officers stops a family in its tracks, while around them life goes on as before.
Also world premiering at Venice Days are two minority Dutch co-productions: The Midfielder (El 5 de talleres), a Uruguayan-Dutch-French production, co-produced by Dutch company Topkapi Films and directed by the Uruguayan director Adrián Biniez, and They Have Escaped by the Fin Jukka-Pekka Valkeppaa, co-produced by Revolver Media (NL).
