Awards Cannes

On the closing night of the Cannes Film Festival 2013, actress Elve Lijbaart was awarded for her role in the Dutch film Borgman. Lijbaart got the prize from the International Cinephile Society who handed out several awards for children´s roles in films in the Competition.

by Alex van Warmerdam (produced by Graniet Film, international sales: Fortissimo Films) has been well received by critics and the audience in Cannes. It was for the first time in 38 years that a film from the nethrelands was selected for the main competition of the most prestigious festival in the world.



The Dutch minority co-production Heli, by Mexican director Amat Escalante has received the Award for Best Director at the 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. Heli is co-produced by Netherlands based production company Lemming Film (international sales: NDM).

The Dutch/Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad received the Jury Award for his film Omar, which was selected for the Un Certain Regard programme.
