APP sold to North America
September 12, 2013
Dutch thriller App by Bobby Boermans makes first sales to English-language territories. High Point has sold rights to the Dutch thriller to Film Movement in North America. Momo Films has secured rights for Australia and New Zealand. It marks the first time the film is sold to English-language territories. The North American sale follows the European Film Promotion Premieres NY Industry Screenings. Since the last Cannes International Film Festival the film has already been sold to Germany, Japan, South Korea and China.
In App a young psychology student is drawn into the dark and fearful world of a diabolic and mysterious App that starts to terrorise her, distributing compromising photographs, videos and text messages about herself.
The thriller is billed as a "cross media" project and carries an app for the audience to download and use as part of the movie plot.
App is the second feature written and directed by Boerman, and produced by 2CFILM, following his 2011 release Claustrofobia, which was also handled by High Point and distributed in the US by Seminal Films.
