An Act of Defiance in South-Africa

Dutch feature film An Act of Defiance will be released in theatres in South Africa on 26 April. The film is distributed by Indigenous Film Distribution and will be screened in cinemas in Johannesburg, Capetown, Durban, Bloemfontein and Pretoria, with the South-African title An Act of Defiance - die Bram Fischer Storie.

An Act of Defiance is produced by Richard Claus & Co (NL) in co-production with Spier Films (SA) and On Stilts Productions (UK). The film tells the story of Bram Fischer, the man behind Nelson Mandela, a lawyer and highly esteemed member of the white establishment. A man who pays the ultimate price fighting his own people for the cause of all people.

An Act of Defiance world premiered at the Movies that Matter Film Festival 2017 in The Hague, where it won the Audience Award. This was followed by many other festival selections and awards worldwide, including the Golden Audience Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival, Best Narrative Film at the Seattle Jewish Film Festival, Best Screenplay and Best Actress at the Cape Town Film Festival,  and Golden Calves for Best Screenplay and Best Actress at the Netherlands Film Festival.
