TWO EYES STARING rights sold
KT&G acquires South Korean rights for TWO EYES STARING
The psychological thriller TWO EYES STARING, directed by Elbert van Strien and produced by Accento Films, will be released in South Korea (including theatrical). The deal was announced during the Cannes film festival. The UK, France, Brasil and Canada have also shown interest in the film, the US has interest in the remake rights. Several US managers (a.o. Echo Lake Entertainment, Principal Entertainment) have shown interest in director Elbert van Strien to represent him in Hollywood. Van Strien will go to LA this weekend to negotiate.
TWO EYES STARING is written by Elbert van Strien and Paulo van Vliet and produced by Claudia Brandt and Elbert van Strien for Accento Films. Leading parts are for Barry Atsma (STRICKEN, THE STORM), Hadewych Minis, Isabelle Stokkel and Bart Slegers. The film was released in the Netherlands in March 2010.
Previous films by Van Strien are STILL WORLD (2005), a Kafkaesque thriller / photo-film, co-produced with Pieter van Huystee Film (nomination Best Dutch Short 2005, selected for New Directors/New Films at MoMA, New York) and THE HIDDEN FACE (2004), a psychic thriller which won the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2005 and the Silver Méliès 2005. Other shorts are: FORBIDDEN EYES (2002), THE SPANISH HORSE (1999) and MARIONETTENWERELD (1993), which was nominated for the Student Oscar.
In TWO EYES STARING the nine-year-old Lisa discovers her sinister new friend is the ghost of the dead twin of Lisa's mother. Then Lisa's father also begins to suspect his wife of hiding a terrible secret, resulting in deadly consequences...
