HAPPY HOUSEWIFE Platinum Award
Dutch feature film THE HAPPY HOUSEWIFE has reached the status of Platinum Film for more than 400.000 tickets sold after its theatrical release in the Netherlands on April 15, 2010.
The Golden/Platinum/Diamond Film Award is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001. The prize is intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films. The total number of tickets sold after a film's release determines whether a prize is awarded.
THE HAPPY HOUSEWIFE is the feature film debut by Antoinette Beumer, produced by Eyeworks Film & TV Drama in collaboration with Inspire Pictures. Starring Carice van Houten (STRICKEN, BLACK BOOK) and Waldemar Torenstra (BRIDE FLIGHT, YES NURSE! NO NURSE!).
In THE HAPPY HOUSEWIFE, the not exactly spotless birth of Harry jr. appears to be the start of a moving and touching story. Everyone around Lea is on cloud nine, except for Lea. To her, giving birth was all just a big set up, while she doesn't realize that she is losing touch with reality. This results in a brave but most of all hilarious story of a woman who fights for herself to get her past and present back on track.
