Maria Ramos Retrospective in Montreal

This year the Montreal International Documentary Festival shows a retrospective of Maria Augusta Ramos called Exposing the System. The Canadian festival runs from 8 to 18 November.

Maria Ramos, a Dutch documentary maker specialized in Brazilian society, will be present at the festival. The retrospective, organized in collaboration with Eye Film Institute Netherlands includes seven films, such as the award winning The Trial (2018), which received among others the Panorama Audience Award at the Berlin International Film Festival and Hills of Pleasures (2013) which won three prizes at the Brazilia Festival of Brazilian Cinema and was nominated for Best International Documentary at Hot Docs Documentary festival. Other films screening are Drought (2015), Future June (2015), Behave (2007), Justice (2004) and Desi (2000).

Besides the retrospective the festival presents two other Dutch (co-)productions: the film Gulyabani by Gürcan Keltek produced by the Turkish / Dutch 29P Films BV in the Short and Mid-Length competition. Gulyabani premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival earlier this year. And finally, The End of Fear by Barbara Visser (De Familie Film & TV), that world premiered at the latest edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, is showing in the Artifice program.
