Dutch shorts at Clermont-Ferrand 2021

From the 29th of January untill the 6th of February the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, the world's largest film festival dedicted to short films, will take place in a completely online setting.
For the 43rd edition three Dutch shorts have been selected. Short documentary Baba*) (2020) by Sarah Blok and Lisa Konno is selected for the International Competiton. Animated shorts Mind My Mind*) by Floor Adams competes for the European Short Film Audience Award and Ink *) by Joost van den Bosch and Erik Verkerk is part of the Young Audience program.
Baba, produced by Boondocs, tells the story of Ceylan Utlu who moved from Turkey to The Netherlands forty years ago to provide his left-wing ideology with western knowledge. After having had the education he wanted, he would go back to make himself useful to his own country. His half-Turkish half-Dutch daughter wonders why things didn't go the way her dad planned it and asks him about immigration, integration, relationships, and loneliness.
The short had its world premiere at in Rotterdam at IFFR and has been travelling the festivals ever since.
Mind My Mind is a co-production of CinéTé and Curious Wolf. The animated film tells us the story of Chris, a teenage boy who is passionate about German dive bombers. Outside the safety of his room, he struggles to adapt to social life and the cues that come with it.Mind My Mind received several awards, including Best Short Film at the Anima Brussels Animation Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the Go-Short International Short Film Festival Nijmegen. The film was also selected for the Animated Shorts program of Tribeca in New York, which was curated by Whoopi Goldberg.
Ink is produced by Ka-Ching Cartoons as a part of the Ultrakort program, a series of short animated films, created for a theatrical release as a pre-film for a big blockbuster in Dutch cinemas. It had it's world festivalpremier at Cinekid Festival 2020 where it won the national Audience Award and it was awarded the prize for best Children's Short at KuKi FF Berlin.
Furthermore Easter Eggs (2020), a co-production between Animal Tank (BE), Ka-Ching Cartoons (NL) and Miyu Productions (FR) was selected for the Short Film Marked and labeled as Short Film Market Pick. The animated short about the two friends Kevin and Jason trying to catch an exotic bird that escaped from a Chinese restaurant is directed by Belgian director Nicolas Keppens.
