Jos de Putter retrospective at Festival Dei Popoli, Italy
Dutch documentary filmmaker Jos de Putter is honored with a retrospective at the upcoming edition of the Florence International Documentary Film Festival - Festival Dei Popoli.
The retrospective includes 15 films from the extensive work of De Putter. The program opens with See No Evil (2014), which portrays the daily lives of three famous senior chimpanzees, inhabitants of retirement homes. The film opened earlier Dokfest Munich and was also awarded Best Documentary. See No Evil was also selected for prestigious international film festivals such as Nyon International Documentary Film Festival - Visions du Réel and HotDocs Canadian International Documentary Festival. The retrospective consists of films which gained Putter international fame, such as his documentary debut It’s been a lovely Day (1993), Solo, the Law of the Favela (1994) The Damned and the Sacred (2003) and Beyond the Game (2008).
The filmmaker will be present in Florence during the festival. On the occasion of the retrospective, Jos de Putter will hold a workshop entitled “Truth and Fiction in Documentary Cinema”.
The retrospective was organized in collaboration with EYE International. The 55th edition of the Festival dei Popoli will take place from November 28 to December 5 in Florence, Italy.
