Dutch short fiction film THE CALM AFTER THE STORM by Harrie Verbeek (UNDER THESE WINGS, CONCEALED TIME) was selected by an independent committee of Dutch film professionals to be submitted for the Academy Awards in the category Best Live Action Short Film.

The film is produced by Armadillo Film (THE CHINESE WALL, DREAMING BY NUMBERS, EL MOURABBI, TIBBAR) in co-production with Dutch broadcaster NTR. The film will have its world premiere at the upcoming Netherlands Film Festival.

In THE CALM AFTER THE STORM Anna is awoken by a phone-call informing her that her boyfriend has been killed by a tsunami. As she realizes she will never again see or touch him, she gasps and her heart skips a beat. Her world freezes as past, present and future meet in a single moment of eternity.

On Tuesday 24 January 2012, the nominations for Best Live Action Short Film Award will be announced. The Oscars® will be awarded on Sunday February 26, 2012.
