JUNKYARD Best Short at Ottawa

Dutch animated short JUNKYARD, directed by Hisko Hulsing, has won the Nelvana Grand Prize for Best Independent Short Animation
at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF). Last Sunday, the
winners were announced during the closing ceremonies held at the
National Arts Centre. The festival took place September 19 – 23, 2012 in
Ottawa, Canada.
JUNKYARD is produced by il Luster Films (The
Netherlands) and co-produced by Cinété (Belgium). The film had its
international premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film
Festival (France) and is also selected for Fantoche International
Animation Film Festival (Switzerland), BFI London Film Festival (UK),
Woodstock Film Festival (USA) and Göteborg International Film Festival
(Sweden).
JUNKYARD is the Dutch entry for the Academy Awards in the category Best Animated Short Film.
Hisko
Hulsing previously made the animated films HARRY RENTS A ROOM (1999)
and SEVENTEEN (2003). SEVENTEEN was invited for numerous festivals, such
as Annecy, Telluride, Montreal and Seattle and won several awards.
Besides writing, directing, painting and animating Hulsing also composes
the orchestral soundtracks for his films.
In JUNKYARD a man is
being robbed and stabbed by a junkie. In the last second before he dies,
a youth friendship flashes before his eyes.
