Golden Film for Lover of Loser
The Dutch feature film Lover or Loser, directed by Dave Schram and written by Maria Peters, has been awarded a Golden Film for over 100.000 visitors since it’s release on September 22, 2009.
The Golden Film is an initiative presented by the Netherlands Film Festival and the Netherlands Film Fund since 2001. The prizes are intended to encourage the Dutch film industry and motivate the general public to go and see Dutch films. The total number of tickets sold after a film's release determines whether a prize is awarded. The Golden Films are awarded to Dutch full length feature-films and is handed out when a film has drawn in more than 100.000 visitors.
In Lover or Loser, based on the best seller ‘Lover or Loser’ by Dutch writer Carry Slee, 15-year old Eva doesn’t get along with her new stepfather. Secretly she is in love with Mees, the nice guy from the print shop. Mees likes Eva too, but through a misunderstanding Eva thinks that Mees already has a girlfriend. Then Eva meets Ricardo, a boy who finally pays attention to her. Mees doesn’t like this at all and feels that something is wrong.
Previous films of Dave Schram are the successful youth feature films Desperate (2008) and Timboektoe (2007).
Lover or Loser is produced by Sjef Scholte and Daniëlle Raaphorst for Lover or Loser Film BV, in co-production with Shooting Star Filmcompany, the film production company of Dave Schram, Maria Peters and Hans Pos.
