Dutch doc awarded at Viewfinders

The Dutch documentary short DRONA & ME by director Catherine van Campen has won the award for Best Documentary at the 9th edition of the Viewfinder Film Festival for Youth in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The jury consisted of children between 12 and 16 years.

DRONA & ME, produced by Zuidenwind Filmproductions, is a portrait of the autistic boy Drona (9) through the eyes of his brother Arjun (12). With her screenplay for this film Catherine van Campen won the Media Fund Kids & Docs Award 2009. The film premiered at the International Documentary Film festival Amsterdam IDFA in November 2009.

Following IDFA, DRONA & ME competed in the 'Generation Kplus' competition of the international film festival in Berlin in February 2010. The documentary also screened at One World, the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Prague and the Sprout Film Festival of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, which showcases films by, for, and about people with developmental disabilities.
